Curriculum Vitae

Matej Rus, M.Sc. (Econ.) is a lecturer in entrepreneurship. Apart from his academic and research career at the Faculty of Economics and Business, which he began in 1996, he has been concentrating on consulting for entrepreneurs. While being engaged in this work, he has perceived the opportunity for the establishment of a university incubator that has been recognised by the leading universities as one of the key elements of support environment for entrepreneurship and as the mechanism for novelties transfer from research institutes. As a social entrepreneur and the director of Tovarna podjemov (www.tovarnapodjemov.org), he began in 2001 to realize the vision of establishing a thriving entrepreneurial incubator at the University of Maribor. He transfers his experience from his successful entrepreneurial path as well as fruitful research and consulting work into teaching, thus contributing to the applicability of theoretical knowledge. Apart from that, he is the head of the organisational committee of the international conference PODIM (www.podim.org), the leading author of the handbook and tool for business planning (www.tovarnapodjemov.org/orodje) as well as a member of the Competitiveness Council of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.
